In order to respond to the requirement of rapidly accurate diagnosis of Streptococcus suis and some key pathogenic elements of the bacteria causing meningitis to enhance capability in the pathogen surveillance. The article established multiplex PCR that simultaneously detect S. suis and their key pathogenic elements from human specimens directly (blood, cerebrospinal fluid). The results we have got: one combination of specific primer pairs that meet criteria for specificity and sensitivity, one optimal procedure for multiplex PCR. The detectable limit of the multiplex PCR is about 1 cfu per 1 reaction ( or = detected 1 copy /1 reaction), the specificity meets requirement (non-cross reaction) and high repetitiveness (100 percent ).
