Objectives: Describe the clinical features of piriform sinus fistula (PSF) and evaluate the results of surgical treatment using nonabsorbable sutures. Subjects and methods: retrospective study on 32 patients diagnosed of PSF underwent surgery from 2007 to 2012, follow-up after surgery 6-75 months (mean: 38.29 + or - 17.6 months). Results: 32 patients (17 male, 15 female) from 5 to 59 year old (mean: 23.78 + or - 12.51). 10/32 (31.25 percent) patients had 1 or more previous surgery. 87.5 percent fistula on the left, 9.38 percent on the right and 3.13 percent on both sides. Only 3.2 percent recurrence with surgical treatment using non-absorbable sutures method. Conclusion: The majority of PSF is on the left. The recurrence rate is still high. Surgical treatment using non-absorbable sutures method leeds to good results: reduced recurrence rate, the surgical time and the complication rate.
