Objective: to evaluate the results of endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach (EETA) for pituitary adenoma. Patient và methods: 21 consecutives patients underwent EETA for removal of pituitary adenoma in Viet-Duc Hospital from 12/2010 to 5/2011. The operation was done by ENT and Neurosurgeons team. the authors conducted a desLripitve prospective study. Results: There were 12 women and 9 men, mean ages 45 years. Among 21 patients, 17 had macroadenoma and 4 microadenoma. 11 patients had secretors adenoma and 10 had nonsecretors adenoma. Results tumor resection rate: total (47,6 percent ), subtotal (47.6 percent ), partial (4,8 percent ). Complications: intraoperative hemorrhage (14,2 percent ), cerebrospinal leakage (28,5 percent ), diabetes insipidus (23,8 percent ). There was no death, no menigitis and no postoperative CSF leaks. 14,2 percent had rhinological complications. Conclusion: EETA is a minimally invasive, safe, efficacious for removing pituitary adenoma, low complication rates, conservation physiology function of the naso-sinuses and cost savings for patients.
