Discovery learning is a modern teaching perspective that directs learners to activities, through which learners are trained in their abilities when participating in those activities. Along with natural sciences: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, this subject plays a role in forming and developing students’ biological abilities, including the ability to explore the living world. Applying discovery learning in teaching Biology will create favorable conditions for forming and developing students’ ability to explore the living world. The article presents an overview of the research problem, systematizing the theoretical basis of the ability to explore the living world, discovery learning and using experiments in teaching Biology, thereby proposing a process of using experiments in discovery learning to develop the ability to explore the living world for students at Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School, Hanoi National University of Education, Ha Nam province.
