We used written survey method to survey 311 students of the Academy of Journalism and Communication to assess the current state of students’ scientific research skills. Research results show that the students’ learning skills are at an average level, in which students are the best in the skill group of developing a research program, followed by the group of skills in conducting research and their group skills in completing research topics are the weakest, but this difference is not statistically significant. The research results are a basis with practical significance to help the Academy of Journalism and Communication develop measures to form and develop students’ scientific research skills.
