Badminton is a sport that many people enjoy participating in for practice and competition, with simple and easy-to-use training equipment. Badminton is suitable for all ages and genders. Practicing badminton has many benefits that contribute to diversifying and enhancing the effectiveness of health improvement, character education, and longevity. Although badminton has only recently been introduced as a subject, it has attracted many students to enroll, engage in extracurricular activities, and participate in community badminton tournaments. The sport positively impacts physical development and the development of physical qualities. With the demand for youth, health, and the development of motor skills such as precise movements, coordination, rhythmic strength, and agility, practicing badminton has become a goal for all students, as it provides good health, flexibility, and skillfulness in movements, as well as character education for students. To achieve the above goal, the university’s students are not only equipped with solid professional knowledge but also need to constantly train their bodies to create a good physical foundation, to meet the labor, study, or specific job requirements of their field both now and in the future. Based on practical requirements and grounded in theoretical knowledge and new perspectives from social sciences and physical education, we propose implementing the project “Selection and Application of Physical Development Exercises for Students Taking Elective Badminton at Dong Thap University.”
