Objectives: to assess the lacrimal secretion in myopic patients after Lasik. Subjects and methods: Prospective descriptive study on myopic patients indicated for Lasik surgery from April 2009 to November 2009 at Vietnam Institute of Ophthalmology with minimal follow-up time of 6 months. Results and discussion: 60 patients (116 eyes), 52.6 percent was female. Average age was 24.81 + or - 4.83, of which the highest 40, lowest 18. All 3 lacrimal indices were lowest at the first post-operative week, BUT 10 seconds in 80 percent, total lacrimal secretion 10mm/5min in 6.9 percent, basic lacrimal secretion 5mm/5min in 1.7 percent. Decrease in lacrimal secretion continued until 3 months post-operative (p0.05). At 6 months postoperative, lacrimal secretion was restored to the preoperative state. Conclusion: All 3 lacrimal indices were lowest at one week post-operative and resolved after 6 months.
