Objectives: To assess the effects of albendazole therapy for patients with Toxocara canis in humans in some communes of An Nhon district, Binh Dinh province. Subjects and Methods: Randomized uncontrolled clinical trial of 126 patients with infection Toxocara canis were examined from 800 people in Nhon Phong and Nhon Hung, An Nhon district, Binh Dinh province. Results: The clinical symptoms of patients are significantly reduced rate: rash (37.3 percent -2.4 percent), rash (4.7 percent -1.6 percent), body aches (19,0 percent -2.4 percent), abdominal pain (6.4 percent - 1.6 percent), headache (8.7 percent -0), fever (4.0 percent - 0), gastrointestinal disorders (6.4 percent - 1.6 percent), other symptoms (13.5 percent - 1.6 percent)
examinations: with 2/126 patients had leukocytosis
5/126 patients have increased BCAT
5/126 patients with ELISA (+) and 121/126 patients with ELISA (-). Conclusions: Albendazole is effective treatment for patients with high efficiency by Toxocara canis larvae in a dose of 800 mg/day for adults and 400 mg/day for children 2 divided doses after food and drug combination sharepoint H2 resistance. The side effects of albendazole is only transient, mainly gastrointestinal disorders.
