Community interventions implemented in 3 communes in Cu Chi district with 1,076 pregnant women. Intervention measures are: communication, management of pregnancy, the oral iron supplementation and sanitation. Intervention model has obvious effect: the rate of anemia in pregnant women after 6 months of intervention reduced from 21.6 percent to 17.2 percent (p0.05), Effect Index was 20.4 percent, Intervention Index was up to 50.3 percent
decreased the rate of low Ferritin in blood after 6 months intervention from 22.2 percent to 18.8 percent, although not statistically significant (p0.05), Effect Index was 15.3 percent, Intervention Index was 42.3 percent. Economic conditions of households have no obvious effect on reduction of the anemia and low Ferritin in blood rates.
