The article briefly reports the debate about revolutionary line in changing the political system in China in the early 20th century between the two factions, the revolutionary faction led by Sun Yat-sen and the royalist faction fostered by Liang Qi Shao. The debate focused on key topics about what regime Chinese society was appropriate for, the republic or constitutional monarchy
the issues of ostracizing Manchurian people, of democracy, human rights and land ownership, etc... The debate appeared in two newspapers: Dan bao (Revolutionary faction) and Tan Dan tung bao (Royalist faction) and lasted 2 years (1905-1907), and then ended due to the suspension of these two newspapers, one after another. In that debate, the revolutionary faction of Sun Yat-sen gained the upper hand tllanks to its strong force and consistent policy. Anyway, the debate created a positive impact on changing Chinese society, leading to the victory of the Xinhai Revolution in 1911.
