Background: The foreheadflaps that are widely usedfor reconstructive surgery of the eyes are prepared on the superficial temporal artery (STA). However, there was an inadequate anatomical knowledge. For a successfulflap design, the systemic anatomical study is needed. Methods: Cross sectional study to describe the anatomical characteristics of the superficial temporal artery (STA). The study was conducted on 25 Vietnamese adult cadavers. Results: The frontal branch that originated from superficial temporal artery was found in 100 percent of specimens. The average length of the frontal branch was 48 + or - 10.16 mm, and the average diameter was 1.51 + or - 0.39 mm. Conclusions: The frontal branch of the STA is invariable and easy for dissecting. The outside diameter is rather large with lengthy pedicle. The two veins usually accompany it.
