The experiments included 12 varieties of sweet potatoes collected from some locations around Vietnam. The study results showed that the stem types are mostly half-standing, stem color ranged from light green to dark purple
dark green mature leaves, except KL5 (dark purple). Leaf shapes had many different types such as hastate, cordate and lobed. Almost varieties grew well such as Chiem Dau, Thai Binh, VD1
KL5, Cuc Nhanh, KD1, KL20-209 had slower development. Almost varieties was infected by sweet potato vine borer (Omphisa anastomosalis Guensee) and sweetpotato weevil Cylas spp Fabricus (moderate to serious level). Group of high yield varieties included KL20-209, Cuc Nhanh, VD1 (9,6 - 12,5 tons/ha), moderate yield variety group included Nhat Tim, KB1, Chiem Dau, Thai Binh (8,5 - 9,5 tons/ha), low yield variety group included Nhat Trang, Hoang Long Tim, Hoang Long Phu Tho, KDI (7,1 - 7,9 tons/ha). Variety of KL5 had virtually no harvest.
