The complexes of some rare earths with L-2-amino-n-butyric acid were synthesized. These solid complexes have the general formula [Ln(Hbu)3](NO3)3.2H2O [Ln: Tb, Dy, Ho, Er and Hbu: CH3CH2CH(NH2)COOH]. The structure of the complexes have been recognised on the basic of elemental analysis, conductivity measurements, IR spectra and thermal analysis methods. It was found that the L-2-amino-n-butyric acid utilized amino nitrogen and carboxyl oxygen for bonding.
