The research aimed to show the results of knowledge and opinions of medical staff on nutrition care by in-depth interviews and structured questionnaires interviews. A cross-sectional study was conducted with involvement of 53 medical staff (28 nursesltechnicians and 25 medical doctors) at Haiduong province hospital from March to June, 2009. The results show that: Understanding of the medical staff in hospital on malnutrition of hospitalized patients was incomplete (Percentage of co"ect knowledge on nutrition assessment for patients was very low (9.4 percent), percentage of correct knowledge on consequences of malnutrition of patients was low (28.3 percent), Nutrition Department is not an attractive "destination" of the medical staff, especially doctors (Percentage of medical staff who willing to be in charge of Nutrition dept. was very low, this percentage of nurse was higher than that of the medical doctor group (26.0 and 16.0 percent). The solution to improve nutritional care in hospitals today is the policy of the Ministry of health, the support of hospital leadership, training and enhance human nutrition.
