Conductive polymers have received increasing attention in recent years. It can be seen that conducting polymers could be used in battery materials, sensors, corrosion protection and smart coatings. Polypyrrole is one of the conducting pqlymers that have been of interest due to its excellent properties. In this study, polypyrrole (PPy) was synthesised electrochemically on a Pt electrode. The redox properties of PPy were characterised using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (ElS). The EIS results showed that conductivity of PPy changed dependence upon polarisation. The mobility of the ClO4- anion was good enough to obtain release from the PPy coating. Also seen in the EIS results was that salicylate and succinate anions could be incorporated into the PPy film. The polarisation technique could be used to exchange the dopant anion of PPy.
