New score was developed by a Spanish group who indentified ABIC as independant predictors of severity and prognosis in cirrhosis. The authors aimed to evaluate ABIC score and to compare the predictability values of these scores in determining short term mortality, complication in a cohort of cirrhosis patients. A total of 168 subject with cirrhosis were recruited from 12/2012 to 7/2013 and were followed - up for 7 days and 30 days to determine outcome (death on survival) at the end of this period. The CP as well as the ABIC score of each patient was calculated within the first hours of their admission. ABIC score was 8.28 +/- 1.05. The meand admission ABIC score for the patient who die (9.37
9.21) was significantly different from those patients surviving beyond 7 days and 30 days (8.05
7.95). The cut - off of ABIC score predicting 7 days and 30 days mortality was 8.8
9.05 (AUROC: 0.794
0.829). ABIC were higher in patient with SBP, HRS. the study identified a significative correlation between Child - Pugh and ABIC score with r = 0.755. The ABIC score, as an objective scale of disease severity in patients with cirrhosis, shows Rromise as being a useful predictor of mortality risk.
