Objective: Describe the non-direct and indirect costs of patients with motor impairment at the Rehabilitation Centre of Bach Mai Hospital in 2013. Methodology: Descriptive cross - sectional study. Results: The total non-medical costs of an in-patient at the Center of Rehabilitation were 7569,4 + or - 4591,2 (thousand vnd/patient!month), in which the direct and indirect costs were respectively 5079.4 + or - 2811.7 (thousand VND/patient! month) and 2490 + or - 3057 (thousand vnd/patient!month). It is accounted for 76 percent of the direct costs were for food, and the costs for losing income/wages occupied the highest percentage (45 percent) of the. total indirect costs. Conclusions: The total non-medical costs of patients have been at high level. It is necessary to enhance the access of patients/household with rehabilitation programs based on the community to reduce the direct and indirect costs.
