Abstract: The article analyzes some theoretical issues regarding democracy and social consensus, such as the relationship between democracy and social consensus, and the roles of democracy and social consensus in national development. The author argues that democracy and social consensus are two important concepts in social philosophy with practical significance today, because in many countries, the issue of promoting democracy and strengthening social consensus remains urgent. Whether a society develops rapidly and sustainably depends on the level of democracy and social consensus. Democracy and social consensus are both the goals and driving forces of social development. Democracy and social consensus have a dialectical relationship, promoting each other. Promoting democracy is a condition for strengthening social consensus
