Purpose: Evaluation of surgical ipsilateral benign thyroid tumors using harmonic. Subjects and Methods: A prospective study. 36 patients were diagnosed ipsilateral benign thyroid and were operated using Harmonic in ENT National Hospital from 11/2013 to 08/2014 . Results: The length of the skin incision: the shortest incision is 4 cm the longest incision is 8cm, average 4.9 +/- 0,9cm. The average duration of surgery was 42.4 +/- 7. 2 minutes, the fastest duration is 30 minutes, the longest duration is 65 minutes. No complications during surgery. No patients with postoperative complications. Less postoperative pain accounted for the highest percentage (63.9 percent), moderate pain proportion (27.8 percent), proportion of severe pain (8.3 percent). The average fluid drain 40ml, 15ml least, most 80ml. Removing the drain on day 83.3 percent. The average duration hospitalization was 5.7 +/- 0.9 day, at least 3 days and longest 8 days. Conclusions: Thyroid lobectomy by Harmonic scalpel with advantages: good hemostasis, surgical field clearly, easy exploration, integrated dissection and hemostasis together, minimal tissue damage, reduced duration surgical, low temperature cutting, low smoke, low burns, less postoperative pain, fewer complications, shorter hospitalization. But the biggest disadvantage is the cost of using harmonic remains high, leading to limit the dissemination of this technique.
