After one year implementing intervention measures to improve knowledge and practice of hypertension and diabetes prevention and control among the middle-aged of Dong Hoang commune, Dong Son district, Thanh Hoa, there were evident effects: - The proportion of population with appropriate understanding of detrimental effects of some risk behaviors on non-communicable disease had improved significantly in intervention commune as compared with control commune, the intervention effect relatively increased from 1.02 to 15.11 times. - The proportion of population with appropriate understanding of symptoms, complications'
and treatments of hy-pertension and diabetes had improved significantly, the intervention effect increased from 2.2 to 124.6 times. - The proportions of population w.ith appropriate understanding of blood pressure measurement and routine blood sugar test were already very positive (73.3 percent - 82.6 percent), yet still improved after intervention (94.3 percent - 97.6 percent) to approach 100 percent. The proportion of risk behaviors change of non-communicable diseases was in positive trend.
