Nghiên cứu thực trạng và tiềm năng phát triển du lịch tỉnh Thái Nguyên - Trung tâm căn cứ địa cách mạng Việt Bắc, thủ đô kháng chiến thời chống Pháp, nay là trung tâm kinh tế - văn hóa - giáo dục đào tạo, y tế, khoa học kỹ thuật của vùng Trung du miền núi phía Bắc đã chỉ ra rằng du lịch Thái Nguyên đã và đang có bước phát triển đáng kể. Nếu có chiến lược phát triển tốt thì tỉnh Thái Nguyên sẽ trở thành điểm du lịch đầy triển vọng. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy: Từ năm 2010 đến nay, tổng số cơ sở lưu trú phục vụ khách du lịch tăng cả về số lượng và chất lượng. Cụ thể: Từ 135 cơ sở năm 2010 lên tới 425 cơ sở năm 2017, tổng số buồng phòng tăng gần 2,5 lần so với năm 2010, số lượng khách du lịch đến với Thái Nguyên tăng nhẹ từ 1.450.000 lượt khách vào 2010 lên 1.752.480 lượt khách (theo số liệu thống kê đến tháng 9/2017), các chỉ tiêu về du khách quốc tế, số lượng đơn vị lữ hành, doanh thu từ hoạt động du lịch và lao động tham gia vào nhóm ngành du lịch cũng có sự tăng nhưng không đột biến trong giai đoạn 2010 - 2017.The research on the current and potential developments of Thai Nguyen tourism industry - VietBac's political-based centre and war capital against French, and now is a cultural, educational, health, technological and socio-economic centre in the northern mountainous and mid-land regions of Vietnam. It is observed that Thai Nguyen tourism industry and hospitality has developed and continued to provide unprecedented opportunities for the prospect of tourism activities and services at local and statewide level. Reports showed that there has been an increasing number of tourists, from 1,450,000 in 2010 to 1,752,484 in 2017, while the quantity of hotel facilities significantly increased by 290, from 135 accommodation facilities (2010) to 425 (2017). In addition, Thai Nguyen is also known as one of the top tourist destinations in Vietnam for both international travellers and domestic tourists. Statistically, the revenue from tourism industry has significantly contributed to the overall economic development of Thai Nguyen province between 2010 and 2017. The potential development of Thai Nguyen tourism industry is widely recognized, and therefore a clear and detailed plan is essential to boost this smoke-free industry.
