This study aimed to elucidate the distribution of HPV genotypes and their correlation to histology categories of cervical cancer. Research protocol was approved by the ethics committee of the Haiphong University of Medicine and Pharmacy. By the cross section study from July 2013 to December 2013, total 188 fresh cervical cancer samples have been collected at clincal department of the National Cancer Hospital in northern Vietnam. Reverse dot blot and/or direct sequence were used to genotype for only positive samples with HPV-DNA by amplifying L1 gene using original and modified GP5+/GP6+ primers. Data were analyzed using statistical software medicine. the result shown that the proportion of see was 78.2 percent. HPV infection prevalence in see (92.5 percent) was higher than that of in ADC (74.1 percent) and there was significant difference between infection HPV genotype 16 in see and HPV genotype 18 in ADC (p value = 0.001 and 0.008, X2. The authors concluded that see was most common among cervical cancer patients in northern Vietnam. The infected proportion of HPV genotype 16 was highest in see while HPV genotype 18 was highest in ADC. the results will be basic for studies in near future on HPV genotype 16
18 variants based on E6, E7 genes as well as the HPV vaccination strategy in Vietnam.
