The advent of speech-act theory in which the processes of fonning and reinforcing the language competence are reckoned the processes of forming and reinforcing a sort of activity has partly asserted the pivotal role of exercises in the class. Focusing on the learner capability, the new orientation in teaching and learning has become the cornerstone for altering and improving the curriculum and all activities in the school. In this article, the authors discuss the significance of the synonyms exercises that are designed from the perspective of learners 'communicative competence. From what will be mentioned, the authorscanfirmly contend that the synonym device has feasible effects in communication in addition to the important position of exercise in helping the seven to twelve year old children "apprehend and use" their mother tongue effectively.
