Based on recently herpetological collection from Copia and Sop Cop nature reserves, the authors herein report six new records of snakes from Son La province, comprising five species of the family Colubridae (Pararhabdophis chapaensis, Amphisma khasiensis, Dendrelaphis pictus, Pareas harnptoni, Pareas macularius) and one species of the family Viperidae (Ovophis monticola). Pararhabdophis chapaensis, a poorly known and an endemic species of Vietnam, was rediscovered after 80 years since Bourret's (1934) description based on a single specimen from Sa Pa, Lao Cai province. the results bring the species number of snakes to 44 belonging to 30 genus and 6 families in Son La province. In additipn, the authors provide further morphological and natural history data of afore mentioned species.
