From the Western highland, a total of 60 species of benthic organisms are recordi:!d including 17 species of crustaceans, 43 species of mollusca of which 5 species are considered endemic in Vietnam. Beside it. 179 species of freshwater fish also recorded, among them 5 species were listed in the Vietnam Red Data Book (2007). On other hand, IUCN Red List of fish (2012) listed up to 10 species with the threat category from CR to VU that could be distributed in Western highland. Direct threats i.e. the proximate human activities causing destruction. degradation of fish and macroinvertebrate diversity in Taynguyen highland showed hydropowers generated on rivers that destroy and disturb habitats of them.
