Thai ethnic groups are the dominate ethnic groups in Vietnams Northwestern region. The authors have carried out fieldtrips in 2012, and recored 30 colorant plants species that used for food and textile. There are 22 plant species that used for food, 12 species plants using to dye textile. Especially, Thai ethnic women is well know indigenous knowledge of indigo dyes. They can fix three or four species for dyeing indigo. Two new dyeing plants that used for dyeing indigo and new uses for coloring food by Gmelina arborea which are recorded.
