287 species belonging to 204 genera, 87 families, 4 divisions of vascular plants (Lycopodiophyta Polypodiophyta, Pinophyta, Magnoliophyta) of medicinal plants used by Thai minority people are defined in Quy Hop and Que Phong districts, Nghe An province. The medicinal plant group most used is herbaceousplants (93 species accounting for 32.40 percent), the next is brush plants (90 species accounting for 31.36 percent the climbing plants (53 species accounting for 18.47 percent) and the least used medicinal plant group is woody plants (51 species accounting for 17.77 percent). The plant part most used is leaves (140 species accoun" 37.94 percent), the next is hole tree (91 species accounting for 24.66 percent), root (34 species accounting for 9.21 percent trunk (33 species 8.94 percent), other parts such as fruit, seeds, barks, flowers are rarely used. The percentage of medicinal plants used for gastrointestinal disease treatment is highest (54 species accounting for 18.82 percent), followed by skin disease treatment (39 species accounting for 13.58 percent), for bone fracture treatment (27 species accounting for 9.41 percent), for health improvement (25 species accounting for 8.72 percent) and for other disease treatment is very low. 11 species, defined to be in danger of extinction, listed in the Vietnam Red Data Book, in which 1 species are at the EN level and 10 species are at the VU level.
