Pu Mat National Park maintains the largest area of special-use forest in the north of Vietnam, with 94,804.4 ha of core zone and 86,000ha of buffer zone, of which 22 percent is primary forest with high biodiversity. There are 111 villages with more than 93,500 residents in the buffer zone, almost of them work in the agriculture. Because cultivation land is slope. erosion and exhausted, local people' life have depended on exploitation of forest resources. Three villages in Bu stream region in the buffer zone of Pu Mat NP, local peopIe are Thai and Dan Lai ethnic minorities, their lives are dependent on the NTFPs, 41 percent - 61 percent of the average household's income are NTFPs exploitation. Among 60 households interviewed, there are 100 percent of the households to participate in NTFPs exploitation, there resources is worth about 15 milIion/household/year. Among the many NTFPs exploited, there are 29 species commonly exploited
