Ray plants - Alocasia odora K. Koch, a common medicinal plant in Vietnam and Asia is introduced with local names, scientific correct name and description. Based on morphological characters, the authors showed differences between Ray and some easy confused species in the family Araceae such as Alocasia macrorrhizos, Colocasia gigantea. The results of ethnobotanical investigations showed that stem of the plant is used to treat many different deseases such as liver, gout, detoxication, cutaneous desease, malaria, rheumatism, etc. Traditional experiences of using the plant as vegetable to feeding pigs showed that it is good for mother pig before fertilized
pork from pigs feeded by Ray plant is not too much fat and much spicy.
