In this article, the authors present two methods for the syntheses of 17alpha-hydroxy-17beta-nitril androstenes such as 17alpha-hydroxy-17beta-nitril-androst-4-en-3-one and 17alpha-hydroxy-17beta-nitril-androst-4,9(11)-dien-3-one from corresponding 17-ceto steroids with good yields. The structure of all obtained products is examined by physical methods such as IR, MS and 1H-NMR.
