Object: To determine the prevalence of Hellcobacter pylori (HP) infection on gastroendoscopic gastric biopsy material obtained from gastroduodenal disease patients at Khanh Hoa general hospital. Methods and Patients: A prospective study was conducted on 524 duodenal and gastric gastritis ulcers, gastroendoscopic gastric biopsy 519 patients in Khanh Hoa general hospital from July 2010 to February 2013. Results: The results showed that prevalence of the Helicobacter pyloriinfectionon the gastroendoscopic patiens at Khanh Hoa general hospital was 41,81 percent.. The most common age ranged from 30 to 50 (50,4 percent). The percentage of male/female was 1/1,28. The highest HP infection rate was in the range from 30 to 49 years old (50,2 percent). The relationship between HP infection and ages and sexes is still unknown. The overall rate of HP infection upon positive urease test in this series was 41,81 percent . Results generated by two methods: histological examination and rapid urease test conform each other (Kappa = 0,805, P 0,001), sensitivity: 88,6 percent, specificity: 92,42 percent. Conclusions: Prevalence of the Helicobacter pylori infection on the gastroendoscopic patiens at Khanh Hoa general hospital was 41,81 percent. Rapid urease test is the first choice to detect Helicobacter pylori infection in gastroduodenal endoscopy.
