A cross sectional study was carried at 116 health care fadlities at National, provindal, district and commune levels to evaluate the current situation of occupational health in health care workers (HCW) and to propose measures for health care, health protection and promotion for medical staffs. Interview by questionnaire was applied in 9437 HCWs and health examination and para-clinical tests were done in 2016 HCWs working in therapeutic and epidemic preventive medicine. The study results showed that the rate of sickness among HCWs one month before investigation was 28.4 percent. The common diseases were coughing, cold, fever (12.7 percent), musculoskeletal pain (7.8 percent), headache and insomnia (3.3 percent), etc. The rate of getting chronic diseases lasting more than 3 months was 28.3 percent. The rate of disease infection at work during the last 5 years was 16.8 percent, including respiratory diseases (6.6 percent) (Consisting of acute respiratory diseases (SARS), tuberculosis, and pneumonia)

The results of health examination showed that majority of HCWs (77 percent) had good health categories I and II. The diseases with high rate in investigated HCWs were detal-maxillo-facial diseases (38.8 percent), ENT diseases (32.2 percent), eye diseases (24.7 percent), etc In general, the rate of almost diseases among therapeutic HCWs was significantly (p.0.01-0.05) higher than that in epidemic preventive medicine staffs, except endocrine and urinary diseases. The testing results indicated that there were 10.3 percent HCWs had lower number of hemoglobin than limit values. 10.8 percent of HCWs had positive HbsAg.
