Purpose: To describe certain clinical characteristics and cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of non small cell lung cancer patients with brain metastases treated by chemotherapy in combination with rotating gamma knife. Patients and method: Prospective cross sectional study on 81 NSCLC with brain metastases, histopathological confirmation of primary tumors, were underwent RGK radiosurgery and chemotherapy at the Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Center, Bach Mai hospital from January 2009 to June 2014. Results: Median age was 58,8 + or - 10,3 (27- 82 years old), males accounted for 70,4 percent, Clinical characteristics: intracranial hypertension (72,8 percent), dry cough (59,3 percent), chest pain (53,1 percent), no respiratory symptoms (9,9 percent), no mental symptoms (14,8 percent). MRI features: tumors located in hemisphere was most common (82,8 percent)
one tumor (51,9 percent), 20-30mm in diameter of the brain metastases (69,1 percent). Condusions: NSCLC were predominant in male, age 50-70, most common clinical symptoms and syndromes were: intracranial hypertension, dry cough, chest pain. There was 9,9 percent of patients with no respiratory symptoms
14,8 percent of patients with no mental symptoms. Most common features appeared on cranial MRI: single tumor (51,9 percent) in hemisphere, 20-30 mm in size.
