This was a study among 512 patients with chronic schizophrenia at Kienxuong District in Thai Binh. Results showed that majority of patients treated at community took medicine regularly (89 percent). About 11.8 percent of staff were medical doctors, 73.5 percent of them were school physicians and 14.7 percent were nurses. About 85.7 percent of staff were trained in management and treatment for patients with schizophrenia. All health stations had working plans, giving health check up, and providing medicine 2 times each month for patients following regulation from Ministry of Health. 100 percent of full-time staff managed well patients with schizophrenia. All communes were monitored by provincial and district levels. The management of records, medical records, medication and statistical reports were achieved from 97.1 percent and up.
