Though taken interest for some 15 years, the integrated coastal. zone management in Vietnam has gained just a few restrictive results from some case studies and programmes with an imperfect conception and unsuitable application. In specific conditions of Vietnam, a model of the integrated coastal zone management has been deevised on the basic of objectitives and new points of view, which contains management functions, actions, patterns, units, objects, and it scale.. Belonging to the state attribution, the integrated coastal zone management model is characterised by the centralised and unified management of an action frame with prior issues of a strategy or plan. The model will be implemented by agencies at 3 levels (central, regional and local (provincial) through suitatbly scaled programmes with 5 step cycles, among which are both prior and supporting activities. Besides the contains mmentioned above, the model includes maesures and tools for monitoring and evaluating the implement ion of activities.
