Four field surveys were carried out during rainy and dry seasons from 2009 to 2010 in Nha Trang MPA. A total of 64,660 fish eggs and 49 larvae were collected in 10 sampling sites. The density of fish eggs and larvae fluctuate seasonally. The density per 100m3 in rainy season is higher than that in dry season, more than 3.2 times in the number of fish eggs and more than 21 times in the number of fish larvae. The density of fish eggs and larvae were also unequally among the survey sites (SCs). In details, the density of fish eggs reached the highest value (7993.75) in SC 6 in September 2010 and the lowest value was 5.6 in SC 4. In September 2010, the density of larvae reached the highest value in SC 7 and 8 (11.29), while the lowest value was 0 in SC 5,6,7 in April 2010. Some coral reefs in the southeast areas of Hon Mot and Hon Mieu islands and Bai De Cape are determined as spawning and breeding grounds of coral reef fishes in the region. Therefore, these sites should be considered as high priority areas of conservation of coral reef fishes in Nha Trang MPA.
