Based on identification of specimens and collected data, in Vietnam there are 589 species belonging to 251 genera in 97 families of vascular plants were recorded. Their distribution is: 402 in the South, 383 in the Center and 373 in the North. The families of species richness occupy 9.35 percent of the total. These are Poaceae, Cyperaceae, Fabaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Hydrocharitaceae, Rubiaceae, Asteraceae, Araceae, Alismataceae and Commelinaceae, of which the family of Poaceae is the most diverse with 6.4 percent of total species and the genus of Eriocaulon belonging to Cyperaceae is the most richese. The species of flora were classified in to phytogeographical elements of six groups of phytogeographical elements: 1. Cosmopolitan, 2. Pantropic, 3. Old tropic, 4. Asian tropic, 5. Temperate, 6. Endemic, and 7. Cultivate. Of them, a group of Tropical floristic element is dominant with 44.5 percent to the total flora after that is the paleotropical element of 17.57 percent. and the endemic element for Vietnam is 9.69 percent of total flora. The types of existing vegetation were described including two groups: the firth group of hemihydrophytes includes 3 types of forests, 3 types of shrubous savannas and 3 types of herbous savannas
