Classified 856 species of the mollusca in 120 families, in 5 classes lived in western coast of the Bac Bo Gulf. The class Gastropoda was most abundant, with 449 species, the Bivalvia with 368 species, the Scaphopoda with 10 species, the Cephalopoda with 19 species, and the Amphineura with 8 species. Standing stock was estimated 366,749 tons, annually caught 80,000 tons from this resources. The causes of reducing the mollusca resources were human and natural, but the human factor was important. The basic orientations for developing the mollusca resources include exploitation in proper seasons, planning suitable aquaculture, exploiting suitably so the resources can recover
combining exploitation and conservation.
