Bacteria play an important role in the material cycles and energy flows in ecosystems, as well as in the process of selfcleaning of the aquatic ecosystems. Hence, the study on the abilitY to absorb and metaboliie the organic matter of the bacterial communities in environments is very important in technological applications. But studies on marine bacteria and metabolization of substances of marine microbial communities in Vietnam are still few. Therefore, this paper provides the first data in Vietnam on the ability to metabolize 31 different organic compounds under six groups of substances (carbohydrates, amino-acids, phenols, carboxylic acids, polymers and amines) of marine bacteriplanktonic community in estuaries (Bach Dang estuarine - Haiphong, Ba Lat estuary - Thaibinh) and Sam Son coastal (Thanh Hoa), was collected in the dry season (11/2010), with 12 stations on three sampling sites in the river-sea ward.
