Alarine fisheries resources in the Hon Me area and adjunction waters \were estimated using trawl data collected by the Assessment of the Living fvlarine Fisheries Resources in Vietnam Project in the periods from 2001-2005. Trawl samples collected ih Thanh Hoa and Nghe An waters were excluded for the analysis. It is suggested that this region is relatively high diversity with a total of 229 species belonging to 169 genera in 94 families identified. Carangidae. Nemipteridae. Lutjanidae, Sepiidae, Apogonidae. Lahridae and Mulidae were the most diversified in term of species richness. Results also indicated that almost families caught only 1-2 species. Catch composition caught by trawlnet were dominated by comercial value species as Threadfin porgy, Japanese jack mackerel, round scad, lizard fish, sardine (lnd White-spotted spinefoot. Catch per Unit Efford in this area was high, estimated to be 76,4 kg/h on average. Fishing ground in the northernmost of Hon Me Island was observed having high catch rate in comparison to that of the southernmost.
