Objective: Assess clinical feati/res and magnetic resonance imaging in patients with disc hemiation treated at Friendship General Hospital of Nghe An. Subjects and Methods: Subjects included 180 patients who were diagnosed and treated at the Neurology Department of Friendship General Hospital of Nghe An from May 2012 to May 2013. 76.67 percent patients had onset symptoms after mechanical' [actors. Clinical characteristics: severe and extremely severe pain evaluated according to VAS scale was 82.77 percent, spine syndrome (lumbar painful sites accounted for 94.44 percent, 82.78 percent cases had contraction of back's muscle group, 86.67 percent cases had limited movements of back, 52.78 percent had scoliosis ...), radicular syndrome (Lasegue's sign in 94.44 percent, positive bell test in 81.68 percent, Valleix painful points in 86.67 percent patients ...). Magnetic resonance images: hemiation of L4-5 disc accounted for 47.97 percent, disc hemiation with the highest rate 78.49 percent, multi hemiation in 75.55 percent, spinal stenosis with mild and moderate severity account for 32.56 percent and 38.37 percent respectively. Conclusion: hemiated disc of the lumbar spine is common in the working age. Clinical signs of the spinal syndrome and radicular syndrome is various. Majority of patients had multi disc hemiation, spinal stenosis at mild and moderate severity.
