The results of a cross-sectional descriptive study to find out the current situation of equipment and knowledge on first aid of fishermen in Lap Le commune, Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong province in 2014 showed that: (1) The average percentage of injury people was low (8.3 percent)
100 percent of vessels did not equip with tourniquet, splint, stretcher transportation and medicine cabinet and just had bandage and gauze (70 percent of vessels equipped with bandage, 20 percent of vessels equipped gauze). (2) 89.2 percent of fishermen knew the purpose of bandage to be hemostatic, but only 7.8 percent of all said to cover the wound not to be infected more. (3) The percentage of fishermen knew to use bandage or tourniquet to stop the bleeding were high (78.9 percent and 53.9 percent, respectively), that did not know other simple measures to stop the bleeding such as pressing the arteries, folding the extremities maximum, particularly that knew to put a tourniquet was very low (7.2 percent). (4) Almost 100 percent of fishermen did not know to remove the cause of asphyxiation and to liberate the upper respiratory tract before doing CPR

100 percent of fishermen had no knowledge on transporting patients with spinal injury. Recommendations were to equip medicines and tools for first aid in each vessel
to train the knowledge on first aid for fishermen, particularly about how to stop the bleeding, to do CPR and to transport patient
to strengthen communication programs for fishermen on the importance of first aid.
