Objective: A control trial study was conducted in 2009-2010 to investigate the effectiveness of soybean combined carrot powder in reducing dyslipidemia and increasing blood antioxidant status in human beings. Subjects and method: Adults aged 45-65 who met chosen criteria were invited to study and divided into the intervention and control groups. The intervention group (35 subjects) were given soybean combined carrot powder every day for 9 weeks, while the control group (35 subjects) were not. The two groups were advised to apply healthy dietary. The concentration level of Triglyceride, Total Cholesterol (TC), High Density Lipoprotein-Cholesterol (HDL-C), Low Density Lipoprotein-Cholesterol (LDL-C), Malondialdehyde (MDA) and Total Antioxidant Status (TAS) in plasma were assessed at baseline and at the end of the study. Result: Compared with the control group, the plasma concentrations level of TC
LDL-C
MDA of the intervention group significantly reduced by 7.8 percent, 11.5 percent and 17.2 percent respectively
the concentration of TAS in the intervention group significantly increased (by 5 percent). Conclusion: Soybean combined carrot powder helps decrease dyslipidemia and increase blood antioxidant status in adults aged 45-65.
