The objective of the study was to assess health - related quality of life (HRQoL) and psychosexual adjustment of teenagers with hypospadias after repair surgery. The results showed, the mean age of surgery: 5.6 +/- 3.1. The mean score of HRQoL of group 12 - 15 year olds was 141.24 +/- 6.94
group over 15 year olds was 185.97 +/- 9.40. Fifty percent of the patients were dissatisfied with their penile appearance, and 24.4 percent of them desired a further surgery. Teenagers who felt satisfied had higher score of HRQoL. The main reason for dissatisfaction was small penile size. Patients who underwent surgery in older than 6 year old had significant higher rate of desire further surgery (63.2 percent vs 36.8 percent, p 0.05). Fear for being ridiculed about penile appearance led to some difficulties in social involvement. The sexual behaviors were quite appropriate for age, except less often seeking sexual contacts. In conclusion, it's necessary to conduct a long-term follow up in teenagers with hypospadias.
