Increased cytokine Th2 have play important roles in exacerbated production of collagen from fibroblasts. The purpose of the study is to investigate the effects of Fingolimod, a potent immunomodulatory drug, on skin tight mouse (TSK/+ mouse). In this study, the authors demonstrated that Fingolimod ameliorated the development of skin fibrosis in TSK mouse by expansion of regulatory T cells, elevation of Interferon - gama - producing CD4 T cells. Additionally, Fingolimod reduces skin expresion of Transforming growth factor beta1, Th2 cytokine (Interleukin - 6, Interleukin - 13). Therefore, these results have an important implication for the potential treatment of Fingolimod in experimental model, as well as systemic sclerosis in human.
