12 patients with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) were admitted to Stroke Center - No.108 Military Central Hospital from August 2006 to August 2014. Purpose: Study the clinical and paraclinical characteristics and access some risk factors of cerebral venous thrombosis. Methods: Cross-sectional retrospective and prospective observational study. Results: Mean age 36.9 +/- 15.3, malelfemale 1/2. Risk factors of CVT: female 66.7 percent, puerperium 8.3 percent, oral contraceptives 8.3 percent, sinus infection 8.3 percent, nephrotic syndrome 8.3 percent, none identified 50 percent. The major clinical symptoms include: headaches 100 percent, limb paralysis 50 percent, seizure 33.3 percent, decreased level of consciousness 33,3 percent, cranial nerve paralysis 25,0 percent, nausea and vomitting 25.0 percent, vertigo 16.6 percent, aphasia 16.6 percent. The major paraclinical symptoms: O-dimer level above 500 ug/l: 66.7 percent. Characteristic lesions on CT-scan: cerebral hemorrhage 33.3 percent, cerebral infarction 25.0 percent, cerebral hemorrhagic infarction 8.3 percent. Location of thrombosis on digital subtraction angiography (OSA): superior sagittal sinus 75 percent, transverse sinus 75 percent, sigmoid sinus 25 percent and straight sinus 8.3 percent.
