Methanol is a primary reactant for both esterification and tranesterifcation reaction. The work investigated the methanol stream during the methyl ester synthesis of refined oil, jatropha oil and rubber seed oil. For the tranesterfification of refined oil, 50 percent of methanol formed methyl ester and 40-45 percent of the methanol could be recovered. For the two step process of jatropha oil and rubber seed oil, methanol was used for both esterification and transesterification. For esterification of jatropha oil and rubber seed oil, the recovered of methanol were 93.6 percent V and 88.4 percent V respectively and its concentration was 99 percent.
