Field survey from 2006 to 2008 in Can Tho city, Vinh Long, Hau Giang, Tien Giang, Dong Thap and Kien Giang provinces, resulted in fifteen species of gypsy moth (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae) belonging 105 genera Euproctis, Orgyia, Dasychira, C/ethrogyna and Lymantria. Among these species: Euproctis subnotata, Dasychira osseata, Orgyia postica and Clethrogyna turbata were the most preponderant species. All four species are polyphagous and can feed on fruit trees as on ornamental plants. Owing to the research, the morpho - biological characteristics of Cfethrogyne turbata (Butler) have been described.
