Forest fires have a significant impact on forest production and environment in Vietnam, especially in drought years. Besides declining in forest production, forest fires also affect the environment severely in number of ways such as soil erosion, water pollution, forest habitat and local community destruction. According to statistics from 1991 to October 2008, 25393 hectares of the forests land have been damaged by fires. From early 2010, Bac Kan province has many forest fires occurred in some localities such as Cho Don, Cho Moi, Na Ri ... Particularly, for the first 9 months of 2010, it is reported that there were more than 26 cases afforest fires with 42.80 hectares damaged. The Integrated Landsat imagery and GIS Model of forest fire forecast can identify high fire risk areas and assess the risk level of each point on a narrow range.
