Building a smart city has become an urban development trend all over the world and Vietnam is also approaching. Based on smart city views, the paper analyzes the application of new technologies in management, city operation and global initiatives for smart city development. The article also provides some suggestions for the development and management of smart urban areas in Vietnam.Xây dựng thành phố thông minh đã và đang trở thành xu hướng phát triển của đô thị trên toàn thế giới và Việt Nam cũng đang bước đầu tiếp cận. Trên cơ sở các quan điểm về thành phố thông minh, bài viết phân tích việc áp dụng công nghệ mới trong quản lý, vận hành thành phố và các sáng kiến toàn cầu về phát triển thành phố thông minh. Bài viết cũng đưa ra một số gợi ý đối với việc phát triển và quản lý đô thị thông minh ở Việt Nam.
